Mental Health Symptoms
MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS AFFECT a person’s mood and behavior. Many people may experience some level of mental health related symptoms throughout their lives. A mental health condition becomes a concern, when the symptoms cause distress, affecting the ability to function with day-to-day activities to include school, work, and social settings and/or in relationships.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS will vary based on the mental health disorder. Some examples of mental illness symptom are:
- Feeling sad or down
- Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate
- Excessive fears or worries, or extreme feelings of guilt
- Withdrawal from friends and activities
- Significant tiredness, low energy or problems sleeping
- Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia, or hallucinations
- Inability to cope with daily problems or stress
- Trouble understanding and relating to situations and to people
- Alcohol or drug abuse
- Major changes in eating habits
- Excessive anger, hostility, or violence
- Suicidal thoughts
TREATMENT SERVICES are available to provide assistance to individuals experiencing mental health concerns.
Available services to assist persons suffering from mental health illness include:
- Individual and/or Group Counseling
- Medication Management
- Residential Treatment
- Supportive Services (i.e., case management, peer recovery support)
- Outpatient, Individual, and Group Counseling
