Mental Health Symptoms

MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS AFFECT a person’s mood and behavior. Many people may experience some level of mental health related symptoms throughout their lives. A mental health condition becomes a concern, when the symptoms cause distress, affecting the ability to function with day-to-day activities to include school, work, and social settings and/or in relationships.

  • Feeling sad or down
  • Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate
  • Excessive fears or worries, or extreme feelings of guilt
  • Withdrawal from friends and activities
  • Significant tiredness, low energy or problems sleeping
  • Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia, or hallucinations
  • Inability to cope with daily problems or stress
  • Trouble understanding and relating to situations and to people
  • Alcohol or drug abuse
  • Major changes in eating habits
  • Excessive anger, hostility, or violence
  • Suicidal thoughts

Available services to assist persons suffering from mental health illness include:

  • Individual and/or Group Counseling
  • Medication Management
  • Residential Treatment
  • Supportive Services (i.e., case management, peer recovery support)
  • Outpatient, Individual, and Group Counseling
